Fabrication Shop Supervisor

The Fabrication Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the fabrication shop. This role combines hands-on fabrication work with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. The Supervisor coordinates workflows, manages team members, monitors equipment, and collaborates with other departments to support production goals.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

·         Lead and supervise a team of fabricators and technicians, ensuring adherence to safety and operational procedures.

·         Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members.

·         Coordinate work schedules, delegate tasks, and maintain efficient workflows.

·         Review and approve DESOTEC and temporary employee timecards.

·         Actively participate in fabrication activities, including welding, cutting, assembly, and finishing processes.

·         Monitor production to ensure quality standards are met, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

·         Ensure materials and resources are available to meet project deadlines and maintain productivity.

·         Conduct inspections to verify that products meet quality and dimensional specifications.

·         Interprets drawings to fit, align, calibrate, and assemble, to meet drawing tolerances and product operating requirements.

·         Address any defects or deviations from project requirements and implement corrective actions.

·         Promote a culture of safety by enforcing health and safety regulations and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

·         Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections, addressing any hazards in the shop.

·         Must ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and compliance regulations.

·         Maintain inventory levels of materials, tools, and equipment, coordinating with suppliers as needed.

·         Monitor equipment performance, scheduling maintenance or repairs to minimize downtime.

·         Identify opportunities to improve shop efficiency and productivity, implementing process improvements where applicable.

·         Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth communication and support production needs.

 

Qualifications:

·         Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

·         Technical Skills: Proficiency in fabrication techniques such as welding, cutting, and assembly. Familiarity with fabrication tools and equipment.

·         Must have Welding Certifications required by code requirements and necessary for types of filters being fabricated and assembled

·         Leadership: Strong ability to lead and develop team members while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

·         Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills to address fabrication issues and optimize production processes.

·         Safety Awareness: Knowledge of OSHA standards and best practices for safety in fabrication or manufacturing environments.

·         Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and provide clear direction to employees.

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.

·         Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.

·         Must be able to climb and descend stairs.

·         Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on a frequent basis.

·         Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.

·         May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 30 degrees.

·         May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.

·         May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
